Atmospheric iodine, selenium and caesium depositions in France: II. Influence of forest canopies

چکیده
Estimation of the canopy influence on atmospheric inputs iodine (I), selenium (Se) and caesium (Cs) in terrestrial ecosystems is an essential condition for appropriate biogeochemical models. However, processes involved rain composition modifications after its passage through forest have been barely studied these elements. We monitored I, Se Cs concentrations both rainfall throughfall fourteen French forested sites throughout one year, estimated dry deposition exchange fluxes elements, as well speciation I Se. Comparison elemental highlighted important impact (i) Cs, (ii) species. For three most their were higher than corresponding rainfall. The increase was mostly due to although model revealed some sorption within cases; foliage leaching influencing. Regarding speciation, species highly modified by with unidentified proportion (on average 49 82% throughfall, respectively), possibly washoff and/or transformation into organic forms. Similarly, while composed 26–54% inorganic Se, undetectable throughfall. This dataset represents key information improve modelling cycling ecosystems.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language
since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

With the advent of increasingly sophisticated techniques for access, tropical forest canopy research has burgeoned in the last few years. Although an enormous amount of basic descriptive work remains to be done, canopy research is now entering a more advanced and ecological phase.

The aim of this study was to provide preliminary quantitative information on selenium and iodine statusof sheep in Markazi province, Iran. Selenium and iodine status of grazing sheep were measured for 57different flocks in 14 regions over one year. The districts were selected to represent major sheep growingareas in the province. Blood samples were collected from 2 to 3-year-old ewes during sum...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Atmospheric Depositions around the Venice Lagoon
Studies have revealed the potential risks to which human health and ecosystems are exposed in the Venice Lagoon, due to the atmospheric deposition of persistent pollutants such as trace metals and organic compounds. A total of seventy-seven atmospheric bulk deposition samples were collected monthly from April 2002 to December 2004, from three sites located in the cities of Mestre and Venice, an...
متن کاملSunscreening fungal pigments influence the vertical gradient of pendulous lichens in boreal forest canopies.
Pendulous lichens dominate canopies of boreal forests, with dark Bryoria species in the upper canopy vs. light Alectoria and Usnea species in lower canopy. These genera offer important ecosystem services such as winter forage for reindeer and caribou. The mechanism behind this niche separation is poorly understood. We tested the hypothesis that species-specific sunscreening fungal pigments prot...
